- _l_a_b_e_l_i_t can be used to provide labels for unmounted disk file systems or
- file systems being copied to tape. You must be superuser to run _l_a_b_e_l_i_t
- . The ----nnnn option provides for initial labeling only (this destroys
- previous contents).
-
- With the optional arguments omitted, _l_a_b_e_l_i_t prints current label values.
-
- The _s_p_e_c_i_a_l name should be the physical disk section (e.g.,
- ////ddddeeeevvvv////ddddsssskkkk////ddddkkkkssss0000dddd1111ssss0000), or the a rewind tape device (e.g., ////ddddeeeevvvv////ttttaaaappppeeee). The
- device may not be on a remote machine.
-
- The _f_s_n_a_m_e argument represents the mounted name (e.g., rrrrooooooootttt, uuuu1111, etc.)
- of the file system.
-
- _V_o_l_u_m_e may be used to equate an internal name to a volume name applied
- externally to the disk pack, diskette or tape.
-
- For file systems on disk, _f_s_n_a_m_e and _v_o_l_u_m_e are recorded in the
- superblock.
